Dirty Hands, next weekend at the Keðjuverkun workshop on Skólavörðustíg 40. Reykjavík SoundSystem will spin reggae and dub wheels and later we will get good guests lubing the mikes. The freeshop will be open and plenty of people fixing their bikes. Bring your own to get your hands dirty or fix one up that we have at the workshop. We provide the tools and the parts. You are also invited to bring stuff to the freeshop and take something back home with you ofcourse.
The Radical Summerschool will start on Saturday and will go on the next week and Dirty Hands is an off-venue open course for people to get some insights to how their bikes function and to put dust covered stuff from their cellar into some use in the freeshop.
The event will start at 17:00 and go on until 21:00

Bakhúsið er loks orðið hreint og tilbúið fyrir uppsetningu á hillum og krókum fyrir varahluti og verkfæri. Við höfum hreinsað garðinn og erum byrjuð að mála. Í næstu viku ætlum við að hittast á hverjum degi frá 14-17 og undirbúa opnunardaginn sem verður þann 8. ágúst. Dagskráin verður auglýst síðar í vikunni.
Taktu þátt í að undirbúa tímamóta-hreyfingu á Íslandi og opið rými fyrir alla sem vilja sjá um að viðhalda reiðhjólunum sínum sjálf í rými án karlrembu og hrútskýringa.

The backhouse is clean. Still don´t understand how all that trash fitted in there. We are planning to put shelves in there and we already have some ready. We might need more. So what´s up next? We are meeting every day next week between 14-17 during the day. That´s from 1-7 august and the opening day will be the 8th of august. The event schedule that day will be published later this week.
Come and participate in opening a space for everyone interested in repairing or building bikes. Wait, that´s not right. It´s also for people that want to be part of a movement that is fed up with the motorization of the society and want´s to be the change!

A beautiful sunny day and an excellent on to clean up rotten garbage mixed with timber and metals. Alot of people showed up and we were able to remove most of the stuff from the backhouse. Next up is to build shelves for the bicycle parts and get some battery powered light in there. There is alot of wood still in the center of the backyard and we plan to remove it on Tuesday.
The backhouse will probably be ready at the end of the week which is good since there are alot of bikes stacking up in the backyard. We started paint priming boards to be used for announcements and other messages. If you like painting there is a lot of work to do. Both sides and the front of the main house is on the to-do list.

Góður hópur mætti á laugardaginn og aðstoðaði við að hreinsa úr bakhúsinu. Við fjarlægðum allt stórt rusl og hófumst handa við að grunna plötur sem á verða skrifaðar umgengnisreglur og annað sem ákveðið var á fyrsta fundi. Timbrið úr bakhúsinu er enn í miðjum garðinum og verður fjarlægt á þriðjudaginn.
Stefnan er að mála hliðarnar og frampart hússins sem snýr að götunni í þessari viku. Ef þú hefur áhuga á að aðstoða við undirbúninginn þá geturðu hitt okkur á þriðjudaginn.
